The Client Page
The Friday client page is a private project page that opens from a unique link. It shows the project owner, project name, posted updates, update attachments, and replies submitted on the page. A client does not need an account or password to use it.
What does a client see on the client page?
The top of the page identifies the project and its owner. The update list shows the newest update first, with its posting date and text. Friday displays the body as escaped plain text and keeps its line breaks. Markdown and HTML are not rendered as formatting.
An update can have one downloadable PNG, JPEG, PDF, or UTF-8 text attachment. If clients have submitted replies on the page, each reply appears beneath the update it concerns. A reply shows the client's entered name, reply date, body, and links to any reply attachments.
Each posted update also has its own reply form. The client sees Your name, Reply to this update, Attach files, and Send reply. A reply is public to anyone who can open that private project link. It is not a private message visible only to the owner.
Does a client need an account or password?
The client page requires no login. The private link is the access method, so anyone who has the current link can open the page. Treat the address as confidential and share it only with people who are allowed to read the project history and download its files.
The page's lack of a password makes access simple for the client, but it also means the link should not be posted in a public channel. Do not include passwords, payment card data, or secrets in an update. Read privacy and security before using the page for sensitive work.
Preview the Friday client page
- Log in and open Projects.
- Select the project you want to check.
- Find the Client link area near the top of the project page.
- Select View as client.
- Check the owner name, project name, dates, update text, and attachment names.
- Open each new attachment to confirm that the correct file downloads.
- Return to the owner project page when your review is complete.
View as client opens the actual page addressed by the current link. Use it before first sharing and after every important update. The preview does not create a separate draft, and anything already posted is visible there.
Hypothetical example: You post an update for "Office plan" and attach office-plan-v2.pdf. In View as client, confirm that the update refers to version two and that the attachment downloads with the expected name. If you attached the wrong document, stop sharing the page and contact support, because the current interface has no update edit or delete control.
How should I share the client link?
Select Copy in the Client link area, then paste the address into a message to the intended client. Explain that the link opens their project history without a login and that they can reply beneath a specific update. Ask them not to forward it outside the approved project group.
Posting an update also creates an email notice for the project's one saved client email address. Delivery is queued and may not be immediate. Sending the copied link yourself is useful for the first introduction, especially when you want to explain how the page works. See email delivery if the automated notice does not arrive.
Do not copy a link from an old message when the project link may have been replaced. Always copy the current value shown on the owner project page. An old address will stop working after New link is used.
What access changes when I create a new link?
Selecting New link replaces the project's access token. The old client page address stops opening the project. Every old link to an owner update attachment or client reply attachment also stops working because file access is checked against the current project token.
The project's updates and replies remain on the project, and the new link opens that existing history. Link replacement changes access rather than creating an empty page. It does not edit, delete, or duplicate a project.
Friday does not send the replacement link automatically. After using New link, select Copy and send the current address to every approved reader who still needs access. Explain that bookmarks and previous email links will no longer work.
Replace a link when it went to the wrong person or was exposed. Avoid replacing it without a clear reason because the change interrupts every existing reader and every saved file link. If access was exposed, follow the steps in privacy and security.
Can an owner reply from the project page?
The owner project page displays replies beneath their updates, but it does not include an owner reply form. Do not expect a threaded owner conversation workflow in the signed-in view.
If you need to submit a page reply, View as client exposes the same reply form available to the client. Remember that a reply submitted there appears publicly under the update, with the name you enter. The form is not marked as a special owner response.
You can also respond through your normal email process when you receive the reply notice. An email response does not appear as a comment on the client page. For all limits and visibility rules, read Client Replies and Comments.
Keep page access usable
Use one project for one intended client relationship, and review the recipient before each post. Check the page through View as client, especially after attaching a file. If a client reports that the page or a file cannot be found, confirm that they have the current link before investigating another cause.
The Friday client page stays simple because the client needs only the current private link. Safe sharing, a careful preview, and a clear understanding of New link are the main controls for keeping access correct.
