Managing Projects

2026-09-13

You can manage client update projects through a private page for each client and an ordered history of updates and replies. Your signed in view includes the client email, posting form, delivery status, reply history, attachment links, client link controls, and weekly nudge setting.

Create and manage client update projects

Open New project from the header or sidebar. You can also press Alt+N when you are signed in and your focus is not inside an input, text area, or editable field. The shortcut opens the same New project page.

Enter a project name and the client's email address, then submit the form. A project name can contain up to 160 characters. The client email must be a valid address and can contain up to 254 characters.

Check both values before creating the project. There is no project edit screen after creation. You cannot rename a project or change its client email. If either value is wrong, create a new project with the correct details and use that project for future updates.

The Projects page lists your projects with the newest created project first. Each row shows the name, client email, and update age. A project with no posts says No updates yet. A recent project says Updated today or gives the number of days. The blue indicator appears when the last update is more than seven days old.

Post an update

Open a project and write in the New update field. Update text is required and can contain up to 20,000 characters. You may attach one supported file, but a file is optional.

To post clearly:

  1. State what changed since the last update.
  2. State what will happen next.
  3. Ask for any client action with a date.
  4. State any change to timing, cost, scope, or a prior decision.
  5. Add a supporting attachment only when it helps the client act or review.

Select Post update once. A successful post appears at the top of the history and queues an email for the client. The owner view then shows its delivery state.

Posted updates cannot be edited or deleted. Projects also have no archive or done control. If an update has a minor error, post a correction that names the earlier update and gives the corrected fact. If it contains sensitive information, select New link to stop access through the old client routes, then use the support link in the site footer for help. Do not assume support can delete or edit an update because those product controls are unsupported.

Share the client link

The client link opens a project page without requiring a client account. Anyone who has the current link can read the full project history, submit replies, and download attachments. Treat the link like private access information.

Select Copy to place the full link on your clipboard. If the browser blocks clipboard access, the page says, Copy was blocked. Select and copy the client link above. Select the displayed link and copy it manually. The browser may remember successful copy progress for the getting started list, but copying still works if browser storage is blocked.

Select View as client to inspect the current client page. When you open it while signed in as the owner, the header offers a route back to your owner view. Reviewing the page is a useful final check before sending the link.

Create a new link

Select New link when the existing client link was sent to the wrong person or should no longer work. The old link stops working immediately because the project receives a new access token. Old routes for the project page, update files, and reply files also become invalid.

Creating a new link does not remove the project history or its attachments. The same material becomes available through the new link. Copy the new link and send it to every person who should retain access. Links inside old email messages will no longer open the project.

A new link cannot remove a copy that someone already downloaded or saved. Use a system with named accounts and stronger access controls if your agreement requires individual permissions, access logs, or revocation for one reader while other readers keep access.

Review replies

Client replies appear under the update they address. Each reply includes the client's entered name, time, text, and any attachments. A project page reply also queues an email notification to the owner.

Clients can submit up to five accepted replies in a ten minute window for a project. If the limit is reached, the page says how many seconds to wait and confirms that the reply was not sent. The client should wait for that period and submit again. Repeated clicks do not bypass the limit.

Replying to a notification through an email program does not add text to the project history. Open the project when you need to review the recorded response. Put an important decision into your next update so it remains clear to everyone with access.

Work within project limits

The product does not include project editing, renaming, client email changes, update editing, deletion, archiving, or a done state. It is an update history rather than a full project management system. Keep tasks, schedules, contracts, billing records, and formal approvals in the systems intended for them.

To manage client update projects well, check permanent details before creation, proofread before posting, and keep the current private link with the intended client. You can export account data from the Projects page as a downloadable text file. For account access and session behavior, read Account Settings. For upload rules, read Attachments. Email Delivery explains statuses and replies, while the client communication checklist helps with the content of each post.
